Our Calling

Our Calling… Passing on our faith to the next generation is one of our highest callings. This is made very clear in several psalms, including Psalms 102 and 145, and especially Psalm 78. Unfortunately, as Christians we haven’t always done this well. Many children that grow up in our churches put their relationship with God on the back burner when they enter adulthood. We’ve experienced this in our congregation and it seems common throughout the Church.

Don't Take Vacation from God this Summer!

I was reflecting today upon the fact that a lot of people take a vacation from God and Church during the summer, and so I want to give you this hearty challenge: Don’t do it! Now don’t misunderstand what I’m saying here. Vacations, holidays and summer camping with the family are all good, important and valuable things to do. But don’t take the whole summer off from church attendance, worship, prayer and Bible reading!

Are you full of doubt?

Are you a pessimist like Thomas? Do you see the glass as half empty or half full? Thomas followed Jesus for only three short years. He had the courage to follow Jesus and yet he often had doubts about Jesus' ministry. When Jesus was notified about the death of his friend Lazarus, Thomas said, "Let us also go, that we may die with him." Thomas could not imagine that Jesus would be of any help to Lazarus at this point - his words were oddly prophetic.
