Once upon a time, a little red haired girl came to church at St. Mark's. She would run through the aisles with delight in her eyes. She attended Sunday School and learned all about God's love. She joined the children's choir and sang her heart out. When she got tall enough to become an acolyte, she was always available, no matter what! Paying attention in life is something that can lead to a more meaningful life, yet we spend much of life not paying attention. I am not talking about paying attention in general, but instead looking for moments of grace and joy that occur in our lives. There is much of life that would divert us from these moments to believing that there is little good and beautiful left in life. So we need to work at paying attention to the joy, beauty and grace that surrounds us.

The quilters are meeting again every Tuesday from 9:15-11:30. The quilts are for the Lutheran World Relief Mission and are given to babies, locally to CASA , and to those who need them all over the world. “We have a lot of fun making quilts.” If you would like to try it out, no sewing abilities are needed to have fun and “help blanket the world with love.” For more information, call Sandy at 301-302- 7419. In consultation with our partners, community groups, volunteer leaders and public health officials, the Historic Houses of Worship Tour Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the Annual Historic Houses of Worship Tour previously scheduled for December 26, 2020. The Alpha Class will resume meeting Sunday, October 11 at 9:00 a. m. in the Parish Hall. We are just starting our study of the Book of Genesis. The class will last about 50 minutes to allow those wishing to attend Worship at 10 a. m. to do so. Tables have been arranged to allow social distancing and masks will be required as mandated by state guidelines. Everyone is welcome to attend. Please bring your own Bible. Looking forward to sharing God's Word.

On August 31, 2020 the outside food bank will be closed! Beginning September 1, 2020 the Food Bank will return to its normal operating hours, Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The process will be a little different so please follow signs and instructions from volunteers. Masks are required. Social distancing is required.
